Brooke Certa
Clinical Focus

Growing up on 20 acres in rural Illinois, Dr. Brooke was surrounded by dogs, cats, and horses, developing an early love for animals that would eventually become her life's work. She spent her first decade in veterinary medicine working in corporate practice management, gaining an in-depth understanding of the industry and the systems behind veterinary care. That experience shaped her commitment to independent veterinary medicine and to keeping care personal, accessible, and affordable for the families who depend on it. She is passionate about supporting her colleagues and advocating for a profession that remains focused on patients, people, and community rather than becoming increasingly corporate-driven.

Dr. Brooke is an active member of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, and is always advocating for legislation, supporting veterinarians and protecting animal welfare. She received the FVMA Gold Star Award in 2017 for her outstanding contributions to veterinary medicine and has served as president of the Pinellas County Veterinary Medical Association. Her dedication to education has also taken her beyond the clinic. She spent several years teaching at St. Petersburg College's Veterinary Technology program, where she taught anesthesia and surgery courses and helped prepare the next generation of veterinary professionals.

Her approach to medicine is informed by her own healing journey, which sparked an interest in complementary therapies such as myofascial manipulation, nutrition, and energy-based approaches. She continues to explore these areas with an open mind, looking for ways that complementary therapies may support traditional veterinary medicine and contribute to the overall well-being of her patients.
Home Life
Family, community, and animals remain at the heart of Dr. Brooke's life outside the clinic. These days, her time is largely divided between her children, her dogs, and finding opportunities to get outside. She enjoys being near the water, spending time at the beach, traveling, and practicing what she jokingly calls "forest bathing", simply slowing down and reconnecting with nature.
She is also excited to explore new perspectives on pet care through new ventures in Cambodia, where she looks forward to learning more about the country's rich alternative wellness community and bringing new ideas home.
For Dr. Brooke, veterinary medicine has always been about more than treating animals. It's about caring for the people and communities around them, supporting the profession she loves, and helping make sure high-quality veterinary care remains something families can access and trust.
